I picked up this 'non working' Omega Seamaster 200m Pre Bond recently. It appears to have been lightly worn and at some stage when it ran out of its battery for the first time it was put away and never worn again. It still has a strong bracelet, all the pins are tight. The dial and handset are impeccable. Original mercedes hands, creamy patina on the lume plots and bezel pip. Needs a clean, but considering this was sold as a non working watch its pretty cool that I just needed to throw a battery in it, tap it a few times and off it goes. Hasnt stopped running since.
Thanks for the comments. I took a bit of a chance on this one. The red dot was still visible in on of the photos on the listing and given this is a quartz that was quite a worry. However, given the state of the dial and handset, I couldnt see any signs of the battery having leaked. Still, I was so happy when I opened up the case back and saw an immaculate movement and a very old but intact battery.
Very nice indeed. Congrats. I didn't know Omega made Mercedes hands. Does anyone know what models/years that was for? I'd like to find something close to the Explorer (other than a 25XX Railmaster), and the Mercedes hands sure help. Can't believe a 1016 is $20K+.
Well done mate. Yours is a 1st iteration as well (evidenced by the 6-lobed crown & the single clasp). https://forums.watchuseek.com/f45/f...ega-seamaster-200-pre-bond-series-316149.html Looks like you have the 38mm mid-size (the date window placement is the giveaway) They are a pleasure to wear. Mine says hello.
Just gone through my records, a fellow member paid me £1460 for it. And here's the full size quartz I sold for less than half of that.
