Agreed. I've been telling everyone I work with today the same thing! And when they say they aren't going to I also tell them "If you don't vote you are not allowed to complain!"

I think not being a resident/citizen is a pretty good excuse. Even those US citizens in your territories that are not allowed to vote have a pretty good excuse too...

I am always a bit surprised when I see the lines at your polling stations on TV. I don't think I've ever waited more than 15 minutes to vote in any election (federal, provincial, or even municipal)...

BTW I support the spirit of this thread, just so you know.

Well TV would be boring if they only showed the voting locations where it was quick/ easy to get in and out.

My wife and I walked right up to the registration-check table, and only had to wait about a minute for our turns. Then another minute to get the ballots. They had about 25 'booths', and only about 10 were occupied. We were in and out quickly, even with our 3-year-old trying to help us.

I was at the polls 5 minutes before they opened at 6am and had approximately 250 people ahead of me. I took it as a good sign:thumbsup:

My son immediately placed his I voted sticker on me. I said hold on a second, people might think I'm a Democrat and that I voted twice. My wife did not think my comment was hilarious as I did.

    :)

Ballots were received in the mail, filled out, and returned last week. Nice and easy.

The long lines are in a few places in the U.S. but not common. I have never waited more than about 15 minutes either, and about 5 minutes is more common. (Now I'm in an all-mail or dropoff jurisdiction, so I may never need to vote in person again.)

Unfortunately those lines are in areas which primarily vote for one party, and the other party has control of distribution of polling centers. Suburbs and non battleground states tend not to have that issue. :(

I voted two weeks ago with a mail-in ballot. No sticker for me today, but no waiting either, plus I was able to take my time learning about my new residence's Senate and Congress races, and ballot initiatives.
