    Hi everyone,

Today I'm wearing a piece which is not particularly popular among enthusiasts. It doesn't get much wrist time although it should as it's very comfortable and quite versatile.

Here's my Rolex Yacht-Master ref 116622 platinum dial on Hirsch Tiger strap, perforated water resistant leather with ventilated rubber lining.

Hang on buddy, where's my yacht...? :-p

Stunning in person, why people go bi color subs over this is beyond me. That bezel in person with that dial is just gorgeous.

I always wondered why this watch is not popular amongst Rolex fans. I see a number of these every time I visit a pre owned watch shop in Singapore...

i almost considered it, well the 5 digit serial version. and every time i see, its nothing more than a rich man's sub with out the water resistance to me

I guess this could be a noob question.
To me, YM seems pretty similar to sub. What are some significant differences?

Thinner case (10mm) and fully polished, tapered lugs, platinum bezel+insert+dial, 100m water resistance although same trip-lock crown. The profile of the case is more stylish, less tool looking with lugs pointing downwards and hugging your wrist nicely.

Overall it feels more dressy, a sort of refined Sub if you will but without the 300 water resistance.

I see your point, but can't all Rolex watches be considered a "rich man watch" by the general public? When you think of it, these luxury goods are about refinement and status, not value for money so the whole value argument is a bit irrelevant here IMHO.

What you really pay for in the YM is the superior finish of the case and bracelet, the use of platinum which is obviously more expensive than steel and considerably more difficult to work with than steel or even gold. Also, the YM wears a lot more comfortable than the six digits Sub.

But as they say, to each their own -:).

I see the YM and the Sub as two completely different watches. Those wrist pics are great. Much prefer the YM over the YMII.

I have always been a fan of the yacht master. It is beautifully robust and seems we wear incredibly well(from what I have seen on other wrists).

Thank you for sharing! Wear it in good health!

i suppose that approach can be taken as well. no one needs a rolex, in fact in terms of time telling no one needs anything more than a $15-20 digital watch/analog watch. Most forego watches these days for their cellphone. Any one with about $2000 +/- a few hundred, can get a decent used datejust if they were so inclined.

These have grown on me, and I love the blue dial one.

Personally, if I had one, I would send to LAWW to brush the tops of the lugs and be more in line with a Sub.

All in all, I like these 10x a modern Sub.

I dig the YM. Been debating on getting one, but now it is deciding on the red or blue

    Hi guys.

For those interested, the RSC where I live quoted me 430 Euros to swap the platinum dial for the blue one, and I get to keep the former as a spare part.

So I'd say it's definetly worth cheching with your local RSC if they'd be willing to do it in case you get bored with the looks of yours or just fancy a change.

I'm not a Rolex wearer or owner, but had the opportunity to try on a few pieces at a shop recently and the Yacht-Master was my favorite of the three, despite the name. Definitely a comfortable wraring and ice looking watch in person.

Nice. I was actually thinking of picking up a blue Tudor Hydronaut - kinda sorta similar to the blue dial Yachtmaster

    MOP dial is intriguing

Oh yeah have you noticed the Black Bay Steel kinda sorta looks like those old Omega SMPs?
