Hi all,
I thought my foray into the vintage Rolex world was over when I purchased a full set 16750 in September (thread
HERE), but another buying opportunity arose that I couldn't pass up.
I owned a 5513 Submariner before but did not bond with it, so I did not think I would be interested in another Sub. I gave this one a shot and am loving it!
The case retains the original fat chamfers and the dial/hands have aged to a really pleasant patina. In fact, it is very similar to the 16750 as you can see in the side-by-side photo below. The top hat crystal is also very interesting - I have never owned a watch with such a tall acrylic crystal. The bezel insert has one tiny scratch around 15 min marker but has started to fade slightly. The lume pip is original tritium and matches the rest of the watch nicely. As a bonus, it came on a 9315 folded link bracelet with "PATETED" diver extension.
I hope you enjoy the photos. I'm really hoping this is my last vintage Rolex - my bank account isn't too happy right now!
