No, I'm fine as I am, thanks. I just wanted to give the opinion you asked for, purely for your benefit. That's just how we roll. Good luck with your decision, and welcome aboard.

Oh well that's amazing. I thought you wanted it. If you were in the market for one of these, would you buy that? If so I'll pull the trigger and get it.

That Hannover one is also a much safer bet than the Russian with guaranteed service although I would ask to see the paperwork first.

It's such a beautiful watch. I noticed he wants over $1,600 for it which seems like a very fair price. I know it's just 1mm but I'm slightly held back that it's a 33mm. For some reason I'm being incredibly annoying with picking one.

Does anybody have thoughts on this one? I can ask for a picture of inside if necessary but it said it's been sealed. Is that a thing? Is it reasonable to ask for case pictures? It fits all my criteria and is priced at $1,100. Spending $500 less and getting closer sized to a modern watch would be great for me since I only graduated recently.

It looks like the hands have/had lume while I see none on the dial. That would be a red flag as Omega either lumed both or neither.

What do y'all think about this one? Are the dial and hands too damaged to appreciate? It fits all my requirements as its 35mm (perfect size!), 18k gold (I was expecting 14k), has second hands (subdial but I would have wanted center hands), and best of all is way under budget at $900 (could have no duties!). I could take it to my guy to have it serviced and have the movement cleaned for $300.

Its obviously not as pristine as the more expensive ones, but it fits many of my requirements at a good price. I'm just not sure if its too worn.

It is not an Omega case, which is a large part of the lower price, I would keep looking.

Is there a way to tell so that I can spot them without asking? Is it because the caseback has no stamp?

How about this one? I know I'm about to run out my welcome here after asking so many questions but you guys are being too helpful for me to not ask! 😀

I know its not in perfect condition but the price seems fair and its domestic so no duty. It doesn't bother me that the case has been polished.

You must be joking, do you see the dial? I think you need to slow down and study for a month or two.

Pardon my ignorance, but could you explain what is wrong with it? My eye is quite untrained. Is it not even worth it for the money?

The dial is very poorly repainted.

Really?

This is probably very politically incorrect, but the phrase "the blind leading the blind" seems extremely apt in this thread.

I guess my question is less "is this a perfect watch" and more "is this a terrible watch at a terrible price". I could definitely find an expensive piece but I want it to be my daily wear while I take the train or ride my bike to work. I don't want to coddle it.

The watch you linked to looks really nice but I'm really looking for something manual and without a date window in a reasonable size like 35mm. Slim pickings, I know. I might eventually need to settle for something. Not to get all personal on this but I want to purchase this watch for my birthday (in 2 weeks) as I've had 3 mental breakdowns in the past year and decided instead of worrying that I spent the past year not advancing in life due to the pandemic, I would celebrate it. That said, I'm only 2 years out of school and am not even close to making partner so I want to keep finances in check. If you were me would you drop the money on a great piece? It seems like my budget keeps going up but I should be responsible. I realize this is all personal but I've spent the past year with little social interaction so you've all been a huge help as is.

I think the message is slow down. You’re looking for something that’s in short supply for your price range, especially from a brand like Omega. If you rush into it, then do your learning later, you’ll find yourself with a watch you don’t like so much after all.

Yes, it's a terrible watch. I hope that's clear enough. Also, I don't recommend a non-water-resistant gold watch as a beater. My only advice at this point is to buy the absolute cheapest watch you can find. That way you won't be throwing away as much money.

That’s what I did. Now I have a gold plated redial that’s too small for my wrist. I did learn a lesson though, so there’s that.

I guess the OP needs to decide whether he wants to learn from other people’s mistakes or his own.

We're getting into serious territory now, and of course everyone has unique circumstances. I have no special insights, I'm just a fellow human here. I'm glad you may be emerging from a difficult place, but I hope you will want to embrace life for a while as it opens up, maybe in preference to hunting down that maybe non-existent watch. In a few years you'll be getting somewhere in your career, and then will be the time to start getting into mere stuff. Just my 2c you understand.
