I've been reading and trying to decide on which caliber of this watch would be on my list for 2013, The cal. 321obviously is on my list. My only concern is size. My wrist may be too small, for the big boy speedy. But it would not be a total deal breaker. I'm also considering the smaller 'reduced' speedmaster. I have read that the 'reduced' is not a collector favorite. Again, not a total deal breaker. I got a bit off subject for this thread...

No, it isn't really that sought after - which means you can get one relatively cheap. $1000 - $1300 should get you a damn nice 3510.50 without much searching.

I know it's not a collector favorite, but I had one for awhile. I thought it was very nice and it wore better on my wrist than a full size speedy.

Same here. I tried on the red, white, and black version with the Valjoux 7750 and liked it much more than the manual wind Speedmasters. That one was a little top heavy but not terrible. My Breitling is better balanced even on a strap.

I wonder if the sellers nerves will hold out on this one.

Normally much higher with 321 in the title and only 12 hours to go.

Given my small-ish wrist, the 'reduced' may be the way to go for me also.

    :D

Current top bidder obviously put a decent(ish) bid on straight away (6 days ago). From his bid history he makes one bid and sticks to it. (Can't see more than that).
Got to be worth a snipe at a 'bargain' level on the off chance.

I'm out of funds  So won't get in your way.

How about US$1,877 as a prediction? Unless the "nibblers" get stuck in during the next couple of hours.
You'd have to worry about 20% VAT on delivery though, I suppose.

Clean plain jane though and I'd been hoping others felt as you did as to the rest of the statement! ;)

nope, what you need is a straight lug Speedmaster 105.003 or earlier...

I have both a deep love of all things Speedmaster and, shall we say... gentlemanly wrists... (155mm in circumference to be blunt) and while I love the std speedy, have owned more than 5, alas, they are too big, ... BUT the straight lugs are not!!!

Nah, what he REALLY needs is a nice slim 34 - 37 mm manual wind watch. Speedmasters, no matter which reference, are very wide and flat. Not conducive to comfort on 6.5" and under wrists unless yours are nearly as flat as a pancake.

I have a newish (to me) speedmaster reduced. I wanted a classic look speedy but needed an automatic. I love it - it looks good on the wrist, is clear to read and is keeping good time. I'm aware the sub dial spacing isn't as 'right' as a speedy pro, i know the dials aren't as detailed and i notice the chrono pushers aren't in a line with the crown, and none of these things bother me.

but, and its a big but, it seems to wear smaller than it is. I don't know if its because mentally I'm used to full size speedys, but it took a full couple of weeks before it felt right on the wrist. Try before you buy.

Had to reread that - thought you said you had a Jewish Speedy Reduced. ::screwloose::

Everyone has a big butt. :p

Might have something to do with a smaller dial area and a flat wide bezel. Oyster Perpetual cases (ie: Subs, GMTs, or any other 40 mm Rolex) wear like 38 mm to me which is very comfortable. Could be the curve of the lugs too.

    Bingo.

yes, no... but Speedmaster necesse est, vivere non est necesse... not much you can do about it, my ideal size is of course 34, but Speedmaster one must have...

...and speaking of superflat 34mm:s, do you still have that dull boring grey tonneau case Audemars 2120 I sold you the other year? ;)

I'd debate that as I've never owned one and a miracle deal would have to fall in my lap for it to happen.

Hey Nik! Didn't realize it was you! Yes, I absolutely still have that old non-descript yawner. :p It's one of the keepers. Got a 1969 yg AP Classique caliber 2003 as it's stable mate several months later.
