Not much new - Aldrin's watch being a 105.012 has been the strong belief of several old time vintage omega collectors.

At least the belief may now be verified with historical records.

I thought Armstrong's was the 145.012. So are we now to believe only the 105.012 has been worn on the moon?

What we don't have is a look at the records themselves. Why not show them to support the conclusion? Trust but verify. Your recovering lawyer. Bill

Was just looking at pics of another flown Speedmaster the other day belonging to Evans on Apollo 17, in various tables its listed as unknown but by the case lugs and pushers it looks like a 105.012-66CB. Apparently Cernan was wearing NASA serial 1977-1179-000 but no information exists on it, so for the time being Evans' is the last watch on the moon we have an actual photo of until anything on Gene's surfaces.

Exactly. I will remain skeptical until we can see the actual document.

Of course, as interesting as this conversation is, it is all moot, since no one has actually ever set foot on the moon.........................(shall I shut up?)

HA! If OJ and the DA from Law and Order can fool America into thinking we made it to Mars, anything is possible.

C'mon you all know Dave Scott's Bulova was the only watch worn on the surface of the moon.

Just curious about this quote. What information does not exist about the Cernan issued 1977-1179-000 #67? Is the question whether this one was actually worn by Cernan on the surface of the moon? Until it surfaces? Here are two pictures of his watch I took at the Naval Aviation Museum two years ago. I think with his relationship to Omega he has two of the better documented NASA Speedmasters out there but I may be wrong.

It is my understanding that he wore two watches on 17.

NASA #28 105.003 worn on Gemini 10 with JB Champion bracelet
    NASA #67 105.012 with Velco

Here he is seen wearing both inside the CM

Cernan on the moon with what appears to be the 105.012 #67 with twisted lugs on Velco currently at the Naval Aviation Museum.

The info on NASA site had listings for the previous missions and those watches but was blank under Cernan's Apollo 17 watch, so much as I searched for that NASA serial I couldn't find anything on the net about it, thanks for posting those pictures!

Do you have any more angles at all?

Here are the only two other images I have of the watch from my visit a couple years ago.

I'm trying to determine if the stainless steel case for Cernan's watch was supplied to Omega by the Star Watch case company (Luddingon, Michigan), as is implied by Alan Nelson in this article.

It is a 1966 CB case. The Star cases have the lugs shape different from all the other twisted lugs on the Speedy Pro. It started in 1972 so dial wouldn't have applied logo and shouldn't have Swiss Made either (which this one has both). Since Bulova failed to qualify, I guess NASA had no need to issue the Star Speedy to their astronauts for the Apollo 17 mission then.

Thanks for the info. Any idea where I can find info regarding the Star Speedy's use in space? Were the 1972 Star Speedy's ever used in space? I found some info that suggests Reinhard Furrer's Omega had a case made by Star, but it is supposedly a 1978. http://monochrome-watches.com/auction-hammer-bonhams-auction-reinhard-furrer-omega-speedmaster/

I'd really like to find information about how many of the Omegas supplied to NASA had Star cases, and how many of those Stars were used in space.
