Guess you're saying it's a made up story - nice.

The Catalina belonged to the Royal Danish Air Force:

    Info om flyet.jpg

It was many times on Thule Air Base, Greenland - maybe that's where the hangar image is from...?

An old thread about it here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/another-speedy-145-012-came-in.29038/#post-324525

    You should've said:

"I'm Mad Dog and I'm a FIGHTER Pilot, and yes, I know you want me, but the MacGyverette is skilled in stabby judo, so just look at my watch".

Thanks - nothing more than my mobile phone. The above pictures were taken with my former phone - a Samsung - but I do not remember of what model.

Sorry about your neck. I had about 3 mins to put your head over Chevy's. There, I gave you a stylish turtleneck. And a neck like Dick Butkus. mdcb.png

Excuse me, lets not forget the Weems?
    Pilot watches are my thing.
Here are a few, including civilian Weems, Royal Air Force 1942, LeCoultre Weems from 1940.
I no longer own the Waltham US issued pilot watch from 1956.

Extraordinary watch. It's also one of my favourites. And not only optics, it also seats so good on the wrist, perfect size and it runs extremely exact, no matter if on the wrist or in the box. And you can still can get quite good examples (in comparison to Speedys), nevertheless they were made in total only 2500.

Here one for sale if you want:

Ha, I didn't know that also Bulova did the watch according to Nato specs. Did they have any military orders? I saw already Universal Geneve, but they are I think much rarer then Cairelli's.

Here another one but a bit more expensive one (the first one is 13.900EUR, in case if you don't see the price (price only if you register with them)):

Bulova was made up of zenith Cairelli leftovers according to the online sources. Different caliber though, V7730 if I recall correctly. And civilian issue only.

Around 500 were made supposingly in the mid to end 70’s

@LouS here is a great ressource regarding these watches (Monte Carlo and Marine Star)

All pilot/aviator watches below. Mostly WWII US army air corps, US navy, US marine corps. For all the flying and fighting the Americans did in WWII they sure had understated watches compared to some others. Most of these I serviced. They tend to have broken balance staffs, as any decent shock (especially to the edge) will snap off one or both pivots. They must have broken constantly when worn by the ground pounders/grunts. Luckily, they are fairly simple movements.
