The caseback. I absolutely love the design having a heavy emphasis on the 1957 Seamaster, but the caseback irritates me slightly. Why?
It doesn't match the design. The dial, case, and bracelet are all beautiful and simplistic, and they very nicely pay homage the 1957 Seamaster. Seriously, I am crazy about this design. BUT, the caseback is way too busy. The sapphire display back is great, and I am not opposed to it – I don't like all the text that surrounds the sapphire. It's covered in stuff, and it just makes it look too busy. "300m/1000ft", "Seamaster 300", "LIQUIDMETAL Technologies", "> 15'000 Gausse", "Anti-Magnetic", and "Si14" all obnoxiously surround the metal around the sapphire crystal.
I am not opposed to this stuff being on the back, but perhaps it could be more conservative and not quite as distracting. For instance, the "LIQUIDMETAL Technologies" is extremely obnoxious and looks like it belongs as the logo to some sort of new Nerf gun at Target. If the text on the caseback was smaller and a more conservative font and not colored black, but simply just engraved, I think it would fit much better with the overall simplistic feel of the timepiece.
Maybe I'm letting this irritate me too much, but does anyone else feel the same way?
I'm not saying wouldn't buy this watch – I totally would. But I would also look into getting a custom caseback without all the obnoxious advertising.
