What trades do you wish you never did? What watches do you want back in the stable? For me it is my BEAUTIFUL 2254.50. My father still has his, but mine was sold to fund the dark side (Submariner). I am curious what other watches you guys miss!

I strongly regret trading my blue dial Yacht-Master. I had purchased it new at an AD and had memories with it. Even if I get another, it would have to be from the forums due to the large price difference (which I didn't know at the time I got it), wouldn't have my name on it, wouldn't have the memories, and wouldn't be perfect since I've never gotten a single watch from the forums (even "new" or "like new" from trusted sellers) that was in perfect condition.

I used to say that I strongly regret selling my DSOTM as I love that watch, but given where values have gone since then, and given the plethora of new models, I'm not sure I regret it anymore.

For whatever reason the DSOTM values have dropped like gas prices. Is there any real reason for it that anyone has guessed? Grey market dealers now snow ~30% discounts which is unheard of.

I don't think it's really unusual. Many new pieces sell on the forums for 30% off or sometimes much more once the hype dies down. I think the only reason it "feels" strange for the DSOTM is that the hype was pretty high for a long time.

Sold my AT recently. Really regret it. But now I have the guilt-free funds to buy an AT Skyfall or 14270 Explorer.

When I recall all the watches I have sold over the years, I wonder what I was thinking. One steel and gold Submariner, one steel Submariner, one GMT Master, two Rolex Prince Observatory duo-dials, one Rolex Oyster gold shell, one Rolex bubble-back, Heuer Autavia, one Rolex bubble back steel and gold with hooded lugs (rare), one pocket watch that was the property of the President of Uruguay, circa 1890, a one-quarter repeater with jacks, too many other pocket watches to count, and so it goes!

I just remembered having sold a NOS Explorer I which I bought at dealer cost, back in '89 (you might imagine how good a price THAT would have been!) I sold it to a friend who rhapsodized about how much he loved the watch, and he would love it and cherish it forever! Five year later, he phoned me to tell me he was selling the watch for 5 large, which was more than 5 times what I sold it to him for. But owing to a deep sense of gratitude, and because of how much he valued me as a friend, he was willing to sell it back to me for only 4 large. I don't know if he did what I told him to do with it, but it was a rugged enough watch to have withstood it. Trouble is, the luminous don't work where the sun don't shine! That is the one watch I should never have sold!

had the oppurtunity to get a 1680 sub with original bracelet, box and papers for 4k USD. checked ALL the right boxes for me. Sold a week before I had the funds to get it. VERY upset about it still :( Ended up settling with a 16610 sub.

I wish I had bought the 18k Movado with the waffle dial that Sam Kalter had for sale for $450 6 or 7 years ago.

Selling watches gets easier the more you do it. Anybody want anything out of my box? :D

Ok! maybe I shouldn't have let this one go, at least it would have stopped my youngest constantly reminding me how much she loved it and why did I sell it. Yes she was the one who wore it.

Remembered another one that I caught and released, and I totally regret selling it now:

    The original Apple Watch!

Seiko RC-4500 in Teal. It was far too cool - and I've no recollection how / where / to whom I sold it... [EDIT: Apparently I listed it on ebay during 2006 for 65.00 GBP Buy It Now, and it didn't even sell! Must have gone on a forum somewhere]
