Here in the Fratello office, we were standing in front of one of the big monitors to watch the preparation and launch of the New Shepard (named after Alan Shepard). On our wrists, the Omega Speedmaster (hey, it was a Speedy Tuesday) and on the wrist of the Blue Origin, also Omega Speedmaster watches. So […]

Disappointed with the lack of photos. Is there a reason photos of the X33 and the case backs of both weren't shown? Surely pictures exist.

There's a reason yes. It is not a commercial project for Omega, so they don't want to send the photos out. It seems Blue Origin is also trying not to make it a PR stunt thing with suppliers, which I kinda get. But anyways, seen it and described how it looks in the article. The best alternative I had to offer. Whenever I get to see the watch, and it is allowed, I will take images and share.

I asked Omega about it, and they came up with this. As commented above, they are reluctant to share/send images.

I appreciate your reply Jan. Two sides to everything.

From the article: "Instead of the “Flight-qualified…” engraving, you will find on the regular Moonwatch, these ones have the Blue Origin New Shepard vehicle engraved in the center"

Curious to see how this looks, given all the dildo jokes about the rocket.

I like the fact that Bezos (Blue Origin) and Omega are not milking the cow.

I wonder what the chances are of getting one of those straps though my customer at NASA? Omega basically have the same one on their website, albeit just NASA not BO, but I'd rather swap a laser for a free strap than pay the $190! Lol.

Billionaire uses obscene wealth for a pointless joyride while the Earth is in crisis. The shape of the rocket sums up what I think of these people.

Thanks for the insights R-J, I also think it would be great to see some pics, most likely they will surface at some point. Any idea why the crew got 2 watches each (the Moonwatch with a Blue Origin caseback and the X33)?

Yeah.....you're right. We should suppress human innovation. I'm still pissed at the Wright Brothers......

You think sightseeing is an innovation worthy of pursuing when the man has enough wealth to do something significant for the good of humanity?

And who, pray tell, is the person or entity who would make that decision to do something good for humanity with Bezos' fortune? If not Bezos, who?

That is the problem. The wealth of a nation in one mans hands, who uses it for vanity projects while ordinary people struggle to survive. The world is broken.

With the 10th sub-orbital spaceflight of the "New Shepard" program in the planning phase, it certainly looks like we can spot an Omega Speedmaster chronograph in each & every of the official " Blue Origin " crew photos!
In July 2021, the first crew, NS-16 onboard the reusable "New Shepard 4", wore bespoke Omega Speedmaster 310.30.42.50.01.001 versions.
We also know Jeff Bezos ordered a batch of these 3861 movement Omega Speedmaster chronographs for later flights !
