I went a little crazy this month and decided to take advantage of 2 sweet deals that crossed my path. I bought an Omega speedmaster triple date and a beautiful Omega De Ville 8500. The speedmaster was a super cheap deal I got from a pre-owned watch dealer here in town I like to visit the store from time to time to see what he has on display but every time I find a better deal somewhere else and finally end up buying nothing, but this time i fell in love with the watch and at that price, it was impossible not to buy it. Last month I made a ridiculous offer on eBay to some pre-owned watch store, one I thought the seller will refuse for sure and ended up having to buy a Montblanc Timewalker. For the price I though it was ok, and really like the looks of the watch but.... Later I found out no-one buys pre-owned Montblancs. I tried to sell it and the general answer was "sorry man, if it were a rolex or an Omega" so i decided to keep it until I came across a watch repair shop that had this beautiful De Ville inside the display so I went inside to ask for the price and it was not super cheap, but it was ok. I asked the salesman if he could take my Timewalker and some cash for it and surprisingly he said: "Well, it depends on how much are you expecting to get out your watch". I asked for almost double of what I paid for it which it is around 40% of retail price and the man told me he could take it for 35% of retail (which was a huge win for me) and pay the rest in cash so it was a done deal!!!! I´m really happy I made this additions to my collection, even happier I got rid of the montblanc with a profit, nothing wrong with it, just not a very valuable piece and the best of all is I didn´t break the bank. I know the feeling of relief when you've wanted to sell a piece for a while but with no success - and then somebody takes it. Turning a profit just sweetens the deal too. Loving the triple date!
It kinda sucks. I learned the hard way Montblanc watches are just expensive fashion accessories that no-one buys pre-owned. I´ve been wearing the DeVille for a couple of days now and it is awesome, great feel. I Love my PO, but it´s like having a little kid hanging on your wrist all day. I just ordered the rubber straps to see if it gets a little lighter.
Solution - go to the gym and start doing some bicep curls. You won't feel the PO and side bonus is the ladies will appreciate the muscles.
I own a Time Walker GMT ... I will probably pass it on to the kid because no one wants the non Minerva watches. I still like the look so there's that. Mont Blanc is trying but I don't see much progress in their effort to be taken seriously.
