1. Who? Loaned to Mad Dog Junior - our son.
2. What? My modern Speedy Gonzales Moonwatch - in this scenario, the “nacho watch”.
3. When? High school graduation ceremony - May of 2019.
4. Where? Cincinnati, Ohio - United States of America.
5. Why? I’m a dumbass.
6. How long? Too long - approximately 3 hours.

Nice subject mate, but lending stuff to kids is more dangerous than lending lawn mowers to neighbours/mates.
Because kids have an expectations of "what's yours is mine" developed from an early age, it can be hard to get your own stuff back.
It's easier to get your lawn mower (or your wife) back from the recalcitrant kick boxer next door because they don't look at you with the "But Daddy (or Dad), I neeeeeeed it!" and you go "OK, well just until Friday", which they understand to mean any Friday they want to give it back.

So my advice is: Keep your possessions close, and your watches even closer!


BTW, Is Ms H wearing the watch she did at watch school?

PS: edit - Tell Junior MD that the stogie in his gob should be his last.
I know there's millions of cigar smokers who would disagree, and many many of them never have a problem, but I've seen the result of cigar smoking and it isn't nice.

I'd never loan out any mechanical watch or even let any one other than a watch maker or trusted friend handle a vintage mechanical without supervision, and no touching of the crown except by a pro.
I'd sooner give a mechanical watch to a relative than loan one.

I'd loan out a common quartz watch without a second thought. They aren't bullet proof but aren't as subject to damage by the ham handed.

I've offered this many times with friends at get-togethers, but nobody has taken me up on it. The conversation is usually along the lines of the friend admiring a watch and saying that he has considered buying one but hasn't had the chance to see it in person. So I offer to let him borrow it for a couple of weeks to see if he likes wearing it. And then they say no thanks. 😕

He was working at the G20 years ago and didn’t have a good watch.

Walking out of the office to catch his plane I asked where the watch was. “Check in Bag” was his response......😲

He wore it on the plane.

Now he owns a few nice watches like below and is a member here @Patg

Not as if I don’t have a heap of other watches to wear at any one time.

Was it on a bracelet? I could see it being more of pain than it’s worth if a bracelet had to be resized twice...
