Trying to figure out which I like best - I think the Speedy looks great on leather, perlon, nato or the maligned bracelet.

What's your favorite way to wear your Speedy?

I don't have one...yet. But when I do, it will be on a bracelet.

Leather or nato. That is the great thing about Speedys, they can be styled to be worn in almost any occasion. Can't go wrong with any of your choices.

I wouldn't sell you one either.

But, glad to see you're able to frame it in a way that doesn't damage your self esteem. Small steps.

Depends on what your definition of "versatile" is.

Versatility in use : Submariner hands down. Can go from boardroom to board shorts effortlessly. Speedy Pro is only for land and sky (and space of course).
Versatility in look : Speedy Pro. Changing the look of the Sub is pretty tough as it doesn't look that great on most straps. Bracelet and Natos look best, maybe a carefully paired vintage-style strap if the Sub is also vintage, but that's about it. Speedy Pros on the other hand look great on almost every strap and you can therefore change the look quite easily.

Please don't shoot the messenger but my GMT Master II is my most versatile watch. It just returned from a bare boat cruise where it was on my wrist for two straight weeks. (which include sailing operations, snorkeling, cutting fishing net off both props in 4' seas, and other rough treatment. The Oyster case reigns supreme. A Speedy for versatility = bracelet. Personally I like a beefy stitched leather strap on the speedy.

What makes it supreme over the cases from other manufacturers of dive watches? i.e. OMEGA or Doxa

Ok so I used a bit of Hyperbole. I have a Victorinox Dive Master 500 that is my ultimate beater watch but looks the part. I think the Oysters are amazing because they can go from sea to suit effortlessly.

C'mon guys, not a R Submariner, nor a Speedy classify as 'versatile"....
They are much too sporty (in the Boardrooms I frequent, that is).
You might go for a Seamaster Chronograph (321) or even my Cal 352RG. Even my 168.029 might do the trick... :whistling:
