The most precise 14393 Constellation there ever was?

Sorry for the clickbait. 😁 But I had to share this one:

Yup, somebody put a quartz movement in a 14393 Connie. I was surprised about the low price when I came across it on eBay, but there’s the answer.

The audacity! Or is it? I’m reminded of a friends grandfather who had a solid gold automatic he loved and wore for most of his life. In his last years of dementia, bound to the bed, he didn’t move his wrist enough for it to wind, so they had a watchmaker put a quartz movement in it so he could still enjoy the watch he loved. Admittedly, the execution was a lot better than with this one, but generally, I don’t necessarily mind. Thoughts?

Oh, and in case, against my expectation, someone here wants to buy it:

I’m not surprised. The dial and case are quite valuable on their own.

Too bad the real and correct hands are missing and you know what, I would respect the watch very much if the replaced calender wheel had the correct font for the numbers 😁

Those parts wouldn’t work with the new movement now would they.

Of course not, but I meant if someone went through the trouble of reproducing a date wheel with the same font, that would have earned my respect. 😜

I don’t think so. Maybe „cleaned”, something has caused damage to it, but it looks correct to me.

Maybe one day, I won't be broken-hearted when seeing watches like this... but it is not this day

Thats probably the case of an owner not being able to afford service costs and a watchmaker giving them alternatives for a loved watch.

Or judging by the dial and replaced hands, water ingress.
