If we define modern as sometime since the beginning of the new Millenium, what do you believe is Omega's most collectible offering to date? Maybe this? ...or that lovely watch featuring a small beagle? Or something else? What say ye?
Collectable as in limited numbers/high demand? I suppose it would be a Speedie of some description from the plethora of variations produced. However, if I was to pick a model that may well become a classic, it would be one of the sword hands 22xx Seamasters. 2254.50/2255.80 or one of the less common iterations.
Obviously, I agree with the Meteorite being in there What about the Mitsukoshi? Do they ever come up for sale?
I'd also add the 15,000 gauss AT. It'll be viewed similarly to the first Milgauss or Railmaster in a few decades. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I agree. I consider that watch to be the prototype model for all the "master" non-magnetic stuff that Omega now produces and will produce in the future. It's exactly why I purchased that watch.
It's exactly why I'm doing my best to hunt one down, though I may just have to deal with owning the blue dial MC. [emoji849][emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
And there's this -- the Gerry Lopez Seamaster GMT LE. I've wanted one of these for as long as I've been interested in Omega watches. I tracked one down earlier this year, but missed it by just a few hours. image credit: www.swisswatchexpo.com
@w.finkenstaedt , I believe DavidSW has one for sale: http://davidsw.com/product/omega-co-axial-aqua-terra-15000-gauss/
Yeah, if I had the funds available I'd have one. Maybe once a couple watches sell I'll jump on it, but it'll likely be gone by then. Thanks though! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Any love for the standard issue 1 of 1 "Speedy Gonzales Mad Dog Edition"? Didn't think so...BUT...I like it.
By the numbers I would think the Apollo Soyuz (1975) and the new release Snoopy (1970) but let us not forget the Japanese Racing. That one seems to be the hardest to come by. The Soyuz I think is the most attractive and they still seem to pop up every now and then. In fact I'll be bringing another one home (BNIB) in the next two weeks.
It's interesting that so many modern collectibles were initially made for the Japanese market -- that includes the Gerry Lopez LE, too.
