    annoying doesn't quite say what I think about those "efforts". But at least it's easy to spot.

    most likely not, but either something the seller doesn't own or a potential buyer would never receive after paying for it..or both. This sort of scam started somewhen with Sellers from Peru, that's why I referred to it.

    Can someone educate me here? Is there a way for the seller to get around the paypal dispute that would surely ensue? Fake paypal account? Such a thing?

    The account is real, but recently made with fraudulent details and misleading feedback
    Just like you going to a bank and lying about your details

    Try to pressure the buyer into paying via bank wire.

    Or

    Accept payment via paypal. Transfer money to bank account associated with paypal account. Close bank account. Never ship item.

    Under PayPal if you did not receive item, won't there be buyer's protection where you can dispute and file a case with PP to get your money back ?

    It would seem like PayPal would have to eat this transaction and reimburse the buyer. It's not his or her fault that PayPal fell victim to the scammer
