As usual, something that wasn't on my WTB list found it's way to me and it's definitely got the most unusual dial of any watch I've had so far.

This 1603 came from the original owner outside of New Orleans by way of an intermediary and, from what others more knowledgeable about these tell me, it started out as a blue dial. Since the watch was in NOLA, it decided to age into the city's colors and take on a purple & gold colorway 馃槈. There is some small chipping at the edge of the dial in two spots but, under a loupe, the dial paint hasn't flaked into this appearance - the surface/texture of the dial appears uniform and the lume plots appear intact as well. I'm thinking of installing a T19 dome to show off the dial and decide if it's a keeper or not over the next few weeks (I usually tend to like more subdued pieces).

I'd be curious to see what other ways other's DJs have changed from their day coming out of the factory. I remember seeing some fun ones on here now and again.

Oddly enough...I bought this from a friend in New Orleans several years ago...he spent all day everyday in the sun. I replaced the dial and the watch looks like new, but I always wondered why the dial aged like this...unfortunately it didn't age quite as nicely. But maybe there is some Voodoo happening in NOLA on the Datejusts
