Hi Omegoids, So I've been looking at this JLC cal 885. At first I thought it was in a donor case, but then I researched and discovered Favre Leuba bought JLC in 1968ish and owned it for a few years till the mid 70's. There were a number of collaborations at this point (as had there been in the mid 50's) and watches came out with both JLC and FL markings on the dial, and JLC movements in FL cases. Was this a good era for JLC? Are these watches regarded as favourably as those from the 50's and early 60's? Are there models to avoid and to look out for?
They were under the same ownership for a period of time, and yes, some parts were shared on some models. As you might guess, though, watches from that period are generally regarded less favourably than those from the 50s and early 60s.
Didn't know anything about a FL - JLC connection, interesting. The watch in the OP is a redial, surely?

Note that in the 1930's Favre-Leuba was a major retailer in India and co-branded with several watch companies. They had their name on some of the original Reversos. Hope this helps, gatorcpa
Jack Forester also did a short piece for Hodinkee the other day on one of Favre Lueba's new pieces. A little bit of history, and quite an intriguing piece. Here's the link if anyone is interested http://www.hodinkee.com/articles/th...harpoon-with-an-ingenious-time-display-system
