When the vintage Omega watch you buy come with a new non-Omega strap, do you care to swap the buckle out to an Omega buckle? Is this normal collector practice or a no-no? Thanks.
I think its a great idea. You can buy a top quality strap for a fraction of the price of an Omega one, but use the genuine Omega buckle.
Most of the time a new Omega strap will cost more than the watch, so a decent quality aftermarket strap is certainly OK. Be careful on the buckles, most of the ones on eBay are cast fakes. For ladies watches, the ratio of good ones to bad is a little better. gatorcpa
Re fake buckles - it won't be easy to tell, won't it? Over all, I was just wondering if there are some unwritten collector's rules in regard to putting an Omega buckle on a non-Omega strap. I am glad it is not considered a no-no. Thanks all for your opinions. Keep'em coming if you have more.
Not a no-no in the slightest. In fact many croco straps exceed the manufactures quality by a lot. Mary you are in a very fortunate position. As there is not much demand for women's size buckle, they are almost never faked and generally much cheaper then men's buckles. Have at 'em
These look nice: http://www.ebay.com/itm/OMEGA-Strap...246?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item337b8395dePurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Here's one with what I think is a NOS Omega strap. At least I've seen men's straps with the same gold printing on it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-NOS...727?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4607f959f7Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Don't know if they will fit your watch, though. gatorcpa

I think I have a 10mm one that I don't use, let me know if you want it! Not sure if it's aftermarket though, it looks like a newer buckle.
Hi Kyle, I don't see a need for a 10mm at this time, just the 8mm and 13mm. However, I have a few watches coming in. I will let you know if I will need it. Thanks!
Kyle, I just bought a 12mm croc strap (with a 10mm buckle) - "12MM ARTISANAL BLACK CROCODILE WATCH BAND" - for one of my Omega watches. If your 10mm buckle is gold-toned, think I can use it. Please let me know how much. Thanks!
