The holy grail of Seikos: 4520 observatory chronometer

    This was one of the actual movements that kicked butt in the last Neuchatel Observatory Chronometer competition.

    It's as ugly as sin, but I really want it. Problem is I don't have $35k.

    @timjohn as a collector and fan of vintage Grand Seikos, I agree with you that in terms of collectability, this is indeed the holy grail. But I not sure about the wearability and the looks (have to say it's far from the best looking). Plus the $35K asking price is ridiculous, even for the 18ct gold case.
    Why not get a 4520-8000 with the grammar of design case in steel? Same movement, great case, wears very well. Here's mine...

    So I have a qn. We know that the first watches that got into the real Japan chronometer status are the king seiko. So would chronometer KS be > GS?
