Wait, seriously?! That's hilarious. Good pull.

Making a long distance call prior to the 80s was quite expensive.

There is a good book called Complicated Watches and their Repair which explains the different chrono dials. Some companies also put them at 4, 8 and 12. In the 1960s-70s, calling another continent cost 3-4 USD a minute In the early 80s AT&T reduced the initial calling period from 3 mins to 1 min for direct dialed calls but still expensive for off peak hours.

Love it. That's a good bit of trivia.

In early days it could take 23+ minutes to be patched through a multitude of operators to make a call from NY to San Francisco at $7.20 every 3 minutes with a $2.40 call fee. A lot of money in the 50s
(Found above on a web read didn’t grab link)

Know in Australia it was always a beep on the phone every 3 minutes. On the phone that was connected to the kitchen Wall by a cord when I was a kid.

we get a good look at his instantly recognizable Zenith Rainbow Flyback, a great choice for the stylish Neapolitan bad-ass of 2002.

Thanks for identifying Furio's watch. We seen it quickly in a few scenes but I never was able to get a very good look at it and wondered what it was. Dollars to donuts it's his personal watch as Zenith is super popular with the artsy-fartsy tri-state crowd. 😁

Gonna make it my mission to find out. This watch was no doubt more popular in Italy than NJ back in 2002 (probably still true), but Federico seems pretty Italian.
He wears some little square dressy thing in other episodes; never got a good look at that one, though I can’t say I was very I interested.

Many watches have these that relates to the old days phone calls that used to be charged in 3 minute blocks.

When you look you will see very common on all early chronographs

Amazing! That's fantastic

I seen him in NYC with a square Gevril. Never spoke to the man but I bet he is friendly enough that he would respond about the Zenith if asked.

Has anyone done a strap change on these? Appears it uses pins instead of spring bars? How do I know which direction to push the pin out?

Raising this from the dead so I can post some photos of one of my favorite watches. I was fortunate enough to purchase it four? years ago with two original bracelets and an original strap. Love the "Furio Flyback".

Rik Dietel serviced the watch and at the time installed a sapphire caseback. The movement is a beauty. As a collector, I have the original caseback of course. 😉

Most interesting. I have quite a few chronographs and dials out, and about a quarter of them have the Telephone minute lines. Never knew what these were before. None of my chronographs are zenith. One can not have everything.
