https://www.ebay.com/itm/1958-Omega-Ranchero-2990-1-Wristwatch/152850575854Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

Straight Lugs, Radium Broad Arrow Heads and Dial
    Very pleasant patina IMHO
Totally untouchable price point for a similar 2915, 2914, 2913
From the golden years of the early Omega Masters, 1958
Appears to be an excellent, hard to find, example
FWIW, Seller had a dubious reputation on OF.

7 days to end of Ebay auction, over $6200 USD so far.
    Will this break $10,000 USD????

A Ranchero is a poor man's Railmaster no longer
    I'll say yes.

Yes, crown is incorrect. Seller used to be a (disgraced) member here.

    Here is mine for comparison:

May I know the story? Or what keywords should I search?

He turned out to be a very shady seller here, and was eventually banned. It was a few years ago. He always took very nice photos though. Professionally he is an opera singer (in the UK).

He sold me a brown dial speedmaster that was irreconcilable with his photos.

Sent it back for full refund which he gave without argument.

Several months later he said we should let bygones be bygones and that he forgave me. (And could he buy one of my watches).

Back to the watch - I like very much how it looks in the photos.

But you now know why I would hesitate to buy based on them.

Does the lume look right? Never seen example where lume on hands aged differently than dial. Here is my Ranchero bought almost 20 years ago before most collectors began taking notes on the desirability of this model. Earliest information I could find was written back in November 2001, by forum member Bill Sohne...posting link to article, unfortunately images are gone!

Finally got around to taking a better picture with correct crown.

As a Professional Advertising Photographer……You very quickly recognise the style / nuance of another Professional

    At a certain level…it’s a small world

Posting exemplary images…& personally actually capturing them yourself… are frequently, two different matters

Incidentally, I can think of one Instagram ‘Brand Ambassador‘, who has been getting away with this for years....

I think an Achive Extract is necessary with these. Too many chop shop Rancheros lurking about.

I don’t think an extract is possible for a 1958 watch.
Put together Rancheros generally feature a later after market dial which I do not think this is.
The hands appear correct which is another good sign although NOS radium Ranchero Hands are seen for sale.

They issued me an extract for mine from May 1957.

This is incorrect, I had the wrong date in my archive, the extract actually says 1959.
