Hi fellow addicts There have been a couple of threads about the different vintage broad arrow hands I have the impression the time has come to cover that topic again I want to compare the Reference 2913, 2914, 2915 & 2990 hands; with the help of some pics from my collection I want to show the small differences and how to differentiate between these almost equal looking hands I will show the minute hands as well; but I won't go into this topic too deeply; unfortunately I don't have a spare 2914 minute hand at the moment; so forgive me for not showing it. First of all the - hole sizes : hour hand/minute hand (in mm) 2990 Ranchero cal 267: 1,4 / 0,75 2913 Seamaster 300 cal 501: 1,5 / 0,8 2914 Railmaster cal. 284: 1,7 / 0,95 2915 Speedmaster cal 321: 1,9 / 1,05 Overview pictures - hour hands front As you see - the hole size of the 2915 & 2914 is obviously the biggest; the entire hand body is bigger the difference between the 2913 and 2990 is minimal Obvious as well is the length - the 2990 is the longest hand
Have researched and written a few posts on these myself in the past, but this is .... absolutely fabulous work and parts collection
I have always enjoyed reading your threads!! I just thought I need to share what I have collected to give a good overview and I welcome everybody to contribute to this thread to make it easier for future members and collectors to distinguish between the single hands.
That's great stuff @Omegist Thanks for your very detailed explanation and I believe this will be very helpful in future...
Hats off to you @Omegist Without seeing the back of the hand, how do you tell whether a 2915 hour hand is radium aside from the color and texture of the lume?
I need some help ! @Omegist are you free So I bought a very small lot of some Omega parts and other manufacturer parts. In a very small box with some 1950s Omega crowns was a broad arrow hand. I’m wondering what it is. I’d like to say 2915 but there are some questions... First the photos, and I can confirm that the hole diameter is 1.90mm. Then there was one later crown in the same box which is here. I include it incase it provides a connection or a clue. It’s 6.25mm and by my count has 22 teeth. I don’t find it in MWO. And then the questions or I could say “problems” with the hand. The profile seems to be quite flat when I look at 2915 hands, and also the lume doesn’t read strongly on my Geiger. Any suggestions what I might have ? And edit to add, the other thing in the small box was a chrono pusher. But it is 4.40 diameter and 3.65 long so it also doesn’t match anything in MWO. So maybe it’s no clue but I’ll add here for completeness.
This was a bit of a pain to do on an iPad, but here’s a best attempt at scaling my hand against a known 2915 hand. I used a reference image from a different OF thread as I figured it would help to have a shot that was perfectly straight on.
