And there are many more than I thought when I first started thinking about Speedmasters.

So following on from my thread about 145.022's here is one on the 145.012

First is a favorite of mine, the 145.012-68, but this one was returned to Omega sometime in the 1970's - possibly 1980's and was given a service dial. These are extremely rare and very attractive as you can see.

This dial lacks the step, and the T marks are closer together. It has a painted logo, and a bezel from the late 1970's

    Next is the 145.012-67

This is the one we are all most familiar with, indeed it must be the most common calibre 321 on the market, and currently the cheapest Speedmaster 321.

So if you are going to have one it should be special right? This one was picked up in Hong Kong from a Rolex dealer, who had replaced the bezel and hands because "They were dirty"

Luckily I found some vintage replacements for this lovely brown dial.

I dont care about the condition of the bezel - it means I can wear it without so much worry!

So most would think that's it right?

No we now have the recently acknowledged by Omega to be a model in its own right "The Ultraman"

This watch has a very specific serial range and an orange hand that is specific to the model. This one has the extract from Omega showing it is an Ultraman, but unfortunately the hand is not original - it broke.

I heard that there are around 50 examples but this is hearsay.

The substitute is 1mm to short.

Now we go onto a very elusive watch, the Black Racing. No more than 10 have been seen by me, in hand or on the net.

Note the different layout to the physical dial base - the subdials are smaller than standard.

But there is another Black Racing - a Non-Pro version!
    Note the larger subdials

Now I have seen a Blue Soliel dial 145.012 - but so far the Museum has not confirmed any Blue Soleil dial as original fitment on an extract.

In the back of John Goldberger's speedmaster book is a tantalizing photo of a beautiful blue dialed speedmaster, with a vivid blue dial. There is also an image in some Japanese literature.

Inspired by these two images, about seven years ago I took a shagged watch and dial, and built this - following the specification from the image:

I doesnt really have a place here - except it is one of my favorite watches to wear.

So there you have a pictorial tour of the 145.012.

Awesome stuff William. The non pro racing dial has no TTs and has the widest oval O normally seen on a 2915. Are you certain this is a tritium dial from 1967?

I think not many will be able to pull together all of these, especially is such stellar condition. Man. Awesome.

    Non-Pro racing for me please!

This is why OF is so dangerous. Until I read this post, I didn't realise how incomplete my life was without a black racing Speedmaster.

    Lovely watches, William, many thanks.

Thank you for sharing! Nice to see that even if 145.012 are a bit more common, some are still quite unique.

Lume were not exclusively made with just tritium or radium...

The Speedmaster script was from early 1990s.

Another superb thread. We all need more of this, thank you

You might try to shoot a regular 145.012 aside with the Ultraman to show the dial finish difference ;)

Gotta love this untouched Speedmaster chronographs... except those with the wrong parts.
Like the #SpeedyPro best when untouched = completely original :D
