    1. For the record, I am not complaining. I think it is fair.
    2. Take it as a way how to get myself to 200 posts faster.
    3. It happened to me 3 times already, to be precise: you read a thread for 15 minutes, you want to share your (hopefully) clever contribution to the discussion and than you get it straight to the face :)

And I forgot, if you want to speak loudly about things you cant share in particular thread, you can use this one.

Saying that, as I was impotent to contribute @ulackfocus on his 2 benruses thread, at least I can ask here what 10+ Honda do you drive? As I am huge evangelist of an idea to keep all the vintage watches in classic cars, I am currently on a hunt for this Honda, 1976 Accord:

IMO, 40 year old Japanese watches = very reliable.

40 year old Japanese cars = not so much.

You’ll have a hard time finding one as most of them have disintegrated into piles of rust.

My first car was a 1980 Datsun 210. Great engine and transmission. The body and interior was worn out after a couple of years. Steel on Japanese cars in those days were not galvanized and some had started rusting on the ships in transit.

By the late 1980’s, they figured it out and Japanese cars were no longer rust buckets.

    Very true.
I am EU based. Not many pieces available around. I travelled to Prague few weeks ago to see one 79 Accord from first owner.
I was super-amused by the interior design. (That particular piece was complete inside, but as you said - rust growing even from such places... well from everywhere.)

It's NOT a Honda. It's a Toyota - a Corolla to be exact. Why is that so confusing? :p

Hey, this thread gives me a GREAT idea.... if I want to start a conversation without any n00bs being able to participate, I can just list a watch and steer the thread drift in the direction I want!

    Exactly.
But you cant mention what car you drive, because you will find 20 pictures of it in another thread. Well, and maybe even not even picture of your car :)

Yes, they're much better frankencars than Honda Corollas.

    Another rustbucket.

If you’re going to spend money on a classic Japanese car, get something like a 1990 Toyota Supra. Fast and reliable.

    Something worth restoring.

My father had that exact car back in 1982. Still had rust problems.

Unless you lived in a desert, rust was a big issue with all Japanese cars until the late 1980’s.

We had a repo man repossess an '82 Celica once for a bank at which I worked. The indignant debtor essayed a shot in his direction as he left the premises with the car on the back of his wrecker, ruining the car's rear window louvers with a load of bird shot from a shotgun.

How do you NOT leave those seat covers soaking wet with sweat, after a top down drive in the summer?
All I could liken it to would be going to the beach in a parka.

But that rear window on the Celica reminds me of the back of the DMC-12 so as a complete utter uneducated person in automobiles I think it looks nice. Off to get burned to the stake I go :D
