Is it just me or do movement clamps have wings! I spent about 10 minutes staring at the carpet under magnification and then thought, I have a tool for this! And Hazzah, it worked! On another note, have you ever seen movement clamps on a Rolex movement? This 1018 has them and I was a bit puzzled. I tried using the typical Rolex movement screws but I didn’t have enough clearance. I guess this dial is slightly thicker than the norm.

You need Rolex case screws, part # 7896 or 7897. The Rolex parts list doesn’t show a case clamp.

Like I mentioned; this watch came with case clamps. I tried to install Rolex case screws but they would not fit under the flange. Some watchmaker somewhere put these in here as it is the only option with this dial.

Dial side. Anyway, I have 2 X1018 and a 5504, so three different versions of the same watch and I have 4 dials total, this is the only one that won’t work with Rolex Screws. I assume you could maybe make it work but you would damage dail scraping it as you turn it in the case.

I'm confused Canuck! Should the op not simply give up asking for advice and just post the whole thing to rolex for them to sort out?🤔

Not the Rolex parts list you have. But yes, it’s very possible that they were put there by Rolex. The case clamp style screw that unthreads to lock can wear out over time and not hold so well anymore. I’m this case, you can put a new mainplate in or you can add case clamps and screws. It’s done at Rolex service centres.
