Tension ring on steel case with gold furniture

I just got this 2852-4SC Connie with gold markers and steel case. Did they really sometimes come with a golden tension ring, or was somebody just trying to add a little extra bling?

Same match seen in this ebay listing.

I suspect that the tension ring in the (very expensive) one you linked to is steel reflecting the gold markers and incident light. Whatever, I go along with the last bit of your post and if it were mine I'd change the ring in yours to a steel one. Nice watch btw!

Sometimes, when dials needs an original shaped ring and you don’t have it, you can reverse a normal one to fit.
I think the ring here is reversed with the wide flat part up.
