Tell me how tough your watch is.

Here's the challenge. What automatic watch do you own that can keep up with tough, dirty work?
I work in the construction field, and while I own nice watches, I have yet to find something that can withstand the rigors of my profession. I'm in the office maybe three months a year (where I can safely wear a speedy), and in the field for nine. I'm talking about freezing cold and insanely hot temperatures, dirt, dust, knocks, downpours, snowstorms......well you get the idea.
Who owns something tough enough to take in 60+hrs a week of whatever the world can throw at it?
    Please enlighten me.

Does it HAVE to be an automatic? What've you got against quartz models? :(

Does punching badguys with a Seamaster qualify? :D

Yes, speedmasters have been tested in extreme environments, but I'm not looking to add dust and grime to the mix, especially with a watch at that price point. I'm also looking for a watch with an automatic movement. I currently wear sub $500 quartz watches for work. I was hoping someone could point me toward a sub $1500 auto that can do the job for five to ten years.

It doesn't need to be automatic. I'm looking for alternatives to quartz models. My main query is, "does anyone make an auto that can put up with really, really tough conditions"?

You'll find this article enlighting @Nosweatt

Personally being an outdoor person, active in triathlon type of sports , the title of the toughest mechanical goes to the German Tool Watches. Many may dispute my claim , that's ok but the Sinn EZM versions / divers can really take Hell of a Bloody Beating 24/7 365/yr & work just fine

I agree with Megan on the Sinns. A Sinn UX is my "knocking around on construction sites and climbing around on building exteriors" watch. I have no fear of hurting it.

It's the answer to almost anything, like the Miata for car questions.

Yes. I think Victorinox Inox automatic will serve you well. They're made for extreme tasks, much tougher than what you do mate.

I'd be looking at a Sinn - used a 556i as my travel watch this summer, tough as old boots, and can be had for reasonable money.
