So I image the dial face has been refinished. Is the refinishing of the dial any were close to what the original dial looked like? Are the dots of luminescent paint at the bottom of the marker are they the original? Is the caliber correct for the model? Trying to learn but it a slow hard proses. Seems to be some many variation and so many part watches. The caliber is a 565.
So when trying to determine if a watch has a refinished dial. What the first step? Would it be to determine whether the marker are correct for the model, Then check the finish to see if it look like the original (this is the hardest part for me especially on the black face dials. I have gone so far as to order a few NOS dial to use as a reference), then check the font type face and quality of the printing. Am I missing any steps?

Yours is a 166.070 since it has the date feature. The 165.070 is the dateless model. If you search for case reference number chart, or something like that, somewhere there is a list of what each number in the reference means.

The luminescent paint on the dial is it original? I assume not.
