I know the 145022 is an older (and therefore potentially more collectible) version but I am still trying to learn how to distinguish specific features and/or redials or other replacement parts and how they effect prices. Thanks in advance.....
Looks like a modern bezel and definitely a modern bracelet. I can't see the movement number to say much about that. Hands look ok I think. More shots at more angles would help http://speedmaster101.com/145-022-69/ http://speedmaster101.com/blog/base500-bezels-as-fitted-to-1960s-speedmasters/ http://www.fratellowatches.com/speedy-tuesday-differences-speedmaster-bezels/ http://issuu.com/mstanga/docs/tab_bracciali_omega_ultima.xls Dial is alright, though maybe a bit washed out?
Still trying to figure out values, I see a lot of interesting/varying prices on eBay and WatchRecon and am also still awaiting my Mark 4.5s return (supposed to be late next week), but I do think these are sweet looking watches.
So given the various comments (I still need to learn more about the band #s) what is a reasonable price range for this watch? Not sure if I am ready to jump in but I would appreciate the collective opinion.....
http://speedmaster101.com/price-chart-2/ Probably somewhere around Running. Chart is head only, doesn't include the bracelet. Note the points about bezels too.. the bezel on this one is modern, not either of the vintage vlavours.
I have seen the betzel price discussions but wasn't sure which version this one had.....so many subtle differences. Thanks!
That isn't the last Speedmaster that'll ever be for sale. Take some time to read the forum, sm101 and perhaps Moonwatch Only to get a better understanding of whats what before you jump in.
Agreed.....I am all about the research. I can spot a good deal on a motorcycle in seconds, not so much on a watch.
It took me almost a year before I bought my first vintage. Of course someone else can recommend a good one but if it's really good it won't stick around. Plus, there's the extra satisfaction of backing yourself and going for it on your own. It's amazing how quick you can go from asking yourself "what the hell does AML/DON mean?", to "hmm that's a tall writing 70's bezel and an early serial 69 should be DoN".
OK I found one that was listed yesterday on eBay..... Doubt I will be buying as I suspect big $$ but thought I would share anyways, looks to have all the right stuff and is actually not far from me. I do love the brown face versions..... http://m.ebay.com/itm?itemId=182001163227&fromWatch=truePurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Thoughts??
So for what it's worth the first one (not the brown dial) went for just over $3200.....more than I was willing to pay.
