I have a lot of questions regarding the telemeter bezels:

Were the Telemeter Bezels in Miles or KM offered as an option? Did the dealer exchange the bezel then? And could the customer choose between KM and miles or was this depending on country?

Did the astronauts wear telemeter bezels as well?

NASA used normal tachy bezels. Around 1980 a few astronauts had decimal bezels ie 0-100.

I'm not sure the logistics of how Miles/KM telemeter bezels working in decades past, but I'm not aware of any cases where astronauts used them on flights. If it happened, I imagine that @SpeedyPhill would probably have seen a photo of it.

But as Foo mentioned, its has been long rumored that astronauts preferred decimal bezels for their utility, since tachymetres had no use in space. I believe there was an "Alaska prototype" at some point which featured a decimal bezel at the suggestion of astronauts. This thread has a little info about the decimals, and more can be found around here on the other types as well.
