    So sad to see.....
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-18K-Yellow-Gold-Mens-Omega-Seamaster-Bumper-Automatic-17-Jewel-Ref-2499-/201635819282?hash=item2ef26e6f12:g:Q-4AAOSwRoxXmlKo

    A beautiful Centenary butchered so!
    The dial defamed with Seamaster.
    The movement so abused.
The caseback engraving all but gone!
The inner caseback somberly stating it's 2499 heritage.

Not sure if @John R Smith can even get the numbers off this one for his list.

Bugler, play taps and put this one to rest.
Maybe still some honor as an organ donor but I don't see much left.

So you're the embodiment of a bad redial?

Careful D, I'm sipping my morning coffee, on second thoughts, I don't feel like it any more.

As of course seller has perfect feedback. I'm staying the hell away from e bay. I was bidding this morning on behalf of one of our off shore members and felt like I was dancing with the devil .

As a nOOb with only two modern watches to my name could somebody lay out the particular sins committed against this watch? All I see from what I've learned is the dial is wrong and it's very over polished. What else am I missing?

Oh boy, you're in for a shocker...

    * The redial is not even correct for the watch - it should say that it's a Chronometer and not Seamaster, and the font doesn't match up. No Swiss Made on the dial, and indices look messed up.

    * The movement is a mix of donor parts, with different colours, wear and condition. Some corrosion observed in parts of it.

    * Overly polished watch, meaning the sharpness of the edges that once were there are lost, and with that the Centenary engraving on the caseback.

So really, the watch is only worth the gold scrap value and the movement inside. The generic leather strap doesn't add any bonus points.

Thank you for the quick reply. Makes sense now, it's a zombie Omega watch. I get it.

Yup, what we like to call a 'Frankenwatch' here :/

Some person will buy that thinking it's great, and there's every chance they will come here and post it up as their first vintage watch...and the cycle of bad first watch = experience learnt continues, round and round.
