Respected Members, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=251244752604&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1123Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Your thoughts please for educational purposes, hour markers seem odd, no number visible to me on movement, just "SWISS" ?. I'm thinking overpriced engraved example conveniently minus caseback photo. Love to hear your thoughts
Caliber 27 DL (renamed 381 in 1949) would be marked under the balance, serial number looks like 108xxxxx which would be correct for an early 27 DL rather than for a later 381. Dial looks correct and original, lots of different dials offered on these. Looks like the seller got the information in the listing from the Omega database which has LOTS of inaccurate info and should be used as a general guide only.
Dial is a repaint, movement has age and caseback engraving to me is unattractive. Give this one a pass especially at that price.
Thank you Sir (Mike?). As opposed to Dennis' friend yesterday, I have been following this forum long enough to be reverent of the tremendous knowledge and help offered by you and others. I am going to attempt to start making some observations and determinations on my own and hope to receive tutelage along the path. To make a big hit right out of the gate without guidance seems a foolish fairy tale. The cards are stacked. Question, I recognized some aging, but just had a funny feeling about the dial ( general looks, hr markers, "SWISS") What gave-a-way the repaint? Tip of the Hat, Buck (Jim)
Jim, Here are a few for this dial: 1. Dial too clean for movement condition. 2. The word "omega" is too large, fonts too rough and not even centered. 3. Printing of the outer rings of the dial too thick. 4. The ring containing the date numbers should have a different finish compared to the rest of the dial. 5. Subdial print style wrong for this style TDMP dial. And after these I stopped looking. Here is one my TDMPs in 18k rose gold with an original dial (same style dial as the one you linked to and I think you will notice the obvious difference). Mike
Well that makes it abundantly clear. Was the date track always on a contrasting background regardless of dial design?
Yes the date track typically is printed on a contrasting background - and sometimes becomes more prominent since in at least some dials the track shows patina more heavily than the rest of the dial.
This an original black TDMP? http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-OME...561745809?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item5aef4b4b91Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
I'm probably just starting to get excited whenever there's a TDMP that _runs_ let alone one in good condition at this point
