    Hi Community:
    Don't use Ebay that much and had a few dealings at Etsy. The few purchases I made, I got hit by taxes. Maybe it is just a matter of time that same is going to be done on all watches fora.Is everyone aware of this ? Thanks.

    VAT/import duty/sales tax?

    I tend to get hit with import duty in the uk if I'm buying from outside the EU regardless of which buying platform I'm using.

    Where do you live? This really depends on where you live, where you’re getting the watches shipped to, and where the watch is being shipped from..

    with the changes in the tax law on internet purchases. . yes it is basically a matter of time before sales tax is assessed on every purchase in the USA regardless of location of purchaser vs. seller. and in any case you "owe" use tax in your home state regardless and the states are getting more sophisticated in tracking this down. . .

    I have been paying taxes for at least a month on eBay purchases to my state @ 5% it adds quite a bit on the bigger purchases. Definitely makes me want to buy more off OF ::psy::

    ~ 9.25% here! ::rant:

    I thought tax would only be added if the company is based in the same state and you're shipping in state? That's how it works with our company at least...

    Illinois is now being very aggressive as are other states. The days of dodging sales taxes are over.

    Brooklyn/NYC. The seller is from Wisconsin and he is paying taxes as well. What is interesting is when he processed the payment, he doesn't see the tax amount being applied-kind of automatic by Etsy.

    Fortunately no state or local sales tax to be charged on internet purchases based on where I live, but we are offsetting the the cost through rising property taxes and cuts to government services.

    Sorry mates - I have an extra 4% to bid on some watches now!

    Many states have "use tax". People were supposed to pay tax on those purchases from other sates when tax wasn't added. No one did so now they are making the out of state retails collect it.
