I am looking at this gold constellation. It appears good to me. However, it makes me less confidence to buy after reviewed several relevant threads here. Any advice to me? Is there any problem for spending 1000+ on this? Many thanks

Needs closer photos, though as a full set, price seems ok.

    Any further details available?

Thanks for advice. No more photos. The online auction only gave these low quality and over exposed pictures. I am a noobie for online bidding. Is it a strategic way doing like this? This gambling bid seems enhancing my interests indeed.

I have seen this nice set but unsure of the dial(that star). The final price will me a lot more than 1000....

1000 is definitely not going to be a gamble. I can assure you that it's going to go pass that. The solid gold case looks like it's in good condition from the blurry photos. That itself would probably propel it pass 1000.

Actually, without good and high-res pics, anyone's guess is valid.
One can not tell by these pics if the dial, case, caseback of even box are the real thing or in a more than decent state. The askew star is evident, only thing to be sure of.

Omega used to sell these straps in that period, and also the box might be from around the time the watch was sold, but in general it is too easy to assemble a set that looks nice from this blurry distance.

If not provided with good pics: pass

Nice 2943, cal 504, with the original strap, hang tag and box. I would expect the buckle to be 18kt too. I wonder if it has papers too? Either way a very attractive piece which I think will go for very decent money......thanks for bringing it to my attention ;)

Well from those pictures I could tell a lot, I've bought many watches from worse pictures! Of course I also did a little further digging to confirm and found the auction.

    Hello @jjsyfi
    Welcome aboard

I'm afraid you're not the only one watching this Connie
As noted above it looks like a very nice set with (scarce) original ostrich strap
(I've asked if it has papers)

Expect to dig deep (triple your estimate) if you want to secure it.

Yep, see them around here rather a lot.
If so, very scarce indeed (and prohibited to trade nowadays)

Edit: what I mean is: to trade in elephant's stuff nowadays. Do not think this strap will cause any issues.....:coffee:

Well that's a coincidence - just this minute heard back from the auction house
    No papers
Still a damned nice Connie though

nice lugs - shame about the boat race

since we discussed this in a positive light - a bit of OF fraternal additional information
I received a clear picture of the dial - with the hands moved to a different position
it shows some degradation to the dial, particularly in the centre and around the star and some indices
Still a nice watch but I would hate for anyone to end up disappointed - so just in case any members were tempted to go mad and 'splash the cash' based on the pics shown above - now you can make your mind up with the condition of the dial in mind
