You're posting on OF so I would guess watch. But it's in the Open Discussion forum so I'm guessing a watch FOR your bike! Double whammy!
Ok, so it's a watch (and I look smashing in spandex, Dennis). I didn't expect to be able to pick it up before Saturday, but my wife went ahead and grabbed it for me today while I was at work. Over the past couple of years I've had 3 watches on my "affordable" list; an Omega Aqua Terra with teak dial, a Breitling SOH 42 with green bezel (got that one) and a Breitling Seawolf with baton dial furniture. The former, while lust-worthy for me, would sit as a "dressier" watch in relation to the rest of the collection (I know it's sporty too), so I've always hesitated to pull the trigger over possibly saving for a GO or Blancpain instead. The latter is discontinued, and not all that easy to find on the secondary market. So, what's a guy to do? Enter the Seawolf Blacksteel 44: Sorry for the crappy iPhone pics. The black is an almost grey, which I love. It's light as hell since it's Ti. And although the 48 is similar (and WAY too big), the 44 with it's red date frame really make the dial pop IMO. I've already ordered two straps, one to play up the red, the other to play up the vintage cream lume (which, I know, I previously railed against with the SM300). I'll try to throw some decent pics up this weekend. In the meantime,
You know, the more I look at that, the more I like it. There are a lot of very attractive details. And I'm a dress chronograph guy, mind you....
Breitlings have been slowly growing on me as of late and I really like this one. Nice watch, wear it in good health(and on your bike!)
Lo Love the bike, is it Columbus tubing? I have a '88 Columbus slx custom. Also Aqua terra in blue ( slightly scuffed after falling of said bike)
Thanks guys!!! Wrist shot will happen over the weekend, along with some better pics. Funny you should mention that. After posting last night, my wife asked about you and Lou and why we haven't gotten together again. Told her we've tried, but life gets in the way. Maybe we should try harder, would love to have another GTG.
No pics until later in the week, got 2 straps on the way and would prefer to do all the photos in one shot.
Ok, got some pics finally! Had to do it indoors as the weather is craptastic, hope to get some sunny shots soon. I bought two new Hirsch straps. The first is white stitched calf, but I thought it was a cream stitching when I bought it. No worries, a little tea and all is better (not the best pic, but it was really hard to capture this): Second was a rally-type sailcloth. This one is not only the exact look I was hoping for, but it's comfortable as all hell. Really happy with this: Here's the watch on stock nylon: Lastly, a group shot, mainly because I felt it showed off the texture of the dial a bit (also hard to capture):
