Surprising level of heat coming from Omega Watch, mark on wrist...

Hey folks, I experienced kind of a weird thing yesterday with my Seamaster. Was sitting on the couch watching the Masters with my wife, and I noticed the case of my Seamaster (image here, new watch post here) felt very, very warm. Nothing that seemed normal, so I looked on ChatGPT for some possible answers, and took the watch off. It cooled quickly on removal, but I was also left with this odd mark on my wrist, which remains this morning. I'm sure it'll go away, but at a bit of a loss as to what's going on. Allergic reaction to the metal or the back of the watch (see through)? Burn? Kinda doubt the latter.

Anyone ever have anything like this happen? I will say I recently got the band tightened, the watch is fairly heavy and I didn't like it moving around like it was, 1/2 a link was removed. It's a bit too tight. Anyway, if you've had anything like this happen I'd be interested in hearing about it. Thanks!

Nickel in stainless steel can sometimes cause a contact dermatitis, but your watches have a sapphire back, so no clue what’s caused that.

It's too tight. Add the 1/2 link back or see if it can micro adjust.

I don't think it was being too tight, as there would be an imprint of the bracelet on his wrist. There's something else going on there.

That's a sweat allergy, not from pressure. I'm on the same boat. Wash or wipe your wrist every few hours. Problem solved.

Appreciate the response. TBH that would make the watch a bit of a pain in the you-know-what. I'll add back in the half link and see if that helps, but...

...not looking for something I need to pay that much attention to. Never had that from any other watch. Hope adding back in the link works!

Hope that helps. You may want to try wearing a Rolex, it's a higher grade stainless steel.

Could be a sign from the Watch Gods.
"Trade in for a Speedmaster".

Personally, I don't think you should go that route with a watch from your Dad.

You might be living in an induction field!
Microwave beam?
Solar plasma ejection?
And of course the most obvious, aliens! Those little bastard's are everywhere. I'd wear a tin hat if they hadn't already fried my Brain.

In my opinion, changing watch brands would not likely solve the problem. Your skin would react to moisture, acids, and bacteria regardless of whether you wore an Omega, Rolex, or Patek.

Looking at the packaging, the medical solution seems to suggest shaving all your body hair and engaging in adult fun time

If this was a reaction to the nickel content, it would likely be worse with a Rolex, as there's more nickel in 904L...

I guess I'd be surprised if it were a reaction to the metal. Other similar watches haven't had this effect and the part that's affected is where the sapphire/glass/whatever contacts my wrist. I think it's sweat, and it's too tight. I tried the "adult fun time" cream and it seems to be quickly clearing it up. 😀

Why do you always have to bring facts into the discussion?

I know that's not in vogue these days, so my sincerest apologies....😉
