·Up for sale is a very rare, one year wonder! – This is an iconic 1967 Bulova Snorkel Model J - Ref. 11403W - Cal. 11ALAC. It’s fitted on an original JB Champion “brick” bracelet. This reference, the model “J” and “K” (white dial) were only produced for one year in 1967 denoted by the M7 on the case back of the watch.
At 37mm, the Model J is a great size and has Bulova's classic 666 Feet "Devil Diver" designation. This is probably one of the nicest Model J’s around IMHO. Bakelite bezel is in great shape with no chips or deep scratches. Crystal is original with some crazing as one would expect. Bulova signed crown original. Bulova signed no-date dial, hands and lume original and have aged to a beautiful creamy yellow with nice patina all around. The watch still winds and sets smoothly.
I don’t know the service history of the 11ALAC movement, but it is incredibly clean, and I see no watchmaker marks inside the case back, so it’s likely never been apart/serviced (or molested). Please note, the watch is currently running fast, and at the least I would recommend it needs to be regulated. A full service is suggested given it’s probably never been touched in 57 years.
These are tough watches to find, especially in nice condition. I hate to let this go, but the funds are needed for another piece, and it honestly deserves more wrist time than it gets. It’s been in the que to head to my watchmakers for service, but I’ve decided to let go “as is”, and have priced it accordingly to reflect a service by the new owner.
I am asking $1995 plus shipping. Payment via Wire, Venmo, Zelle, PayPal (FF). Prefer a sale in the US, but of course willing to discuss international shipment. Many references and positive feedback.
Thank you for looking and please PM me with any questions or if you would like any additional pictures.
Thanks! Jeff
