    Hi,
I am looking for 1958 (my birthyear) watches and Omega is one of the options I am considering. My preferences:
    - stainless steel case
    - black dial (but this is not mandatory as I know Omega with original black dials are very scarce)
    - pie-pan dial would be a nice plus
    - not too expensive (max around $1000)
    Any advice is welcome
    Thanks

30mm.... like a cal. 283.... manual wind, super tough and really accurate.

Automatics are nice but the purist in me always makes me fall in love with the manual wind models when it comes to spending my hard earned cash.

And you can get a really nice 30mm for under a grand.

Hi Raul. Long time no see. Are you still searching for a a birth year watch?

    http://www.watchtalkforums.info/forums/thread57351.html

You're best bet to stay under $1000 and come away with an original dial Omega is in the Seamaster line. I doubt you'll find an original black Pie Pan with that amount, unless it's a total beater.

All I can say at this point is 1958 was a great year! I look forward to hearing feedback, as I am thinking that a 1958 birth year watch would be great.

    Cheers

Hi ulackfocus, yes I am still searching because I had other priorities and the search for watches was a bit postponed.
But in the meantime I was still able to buy two watches from 1958 (I hope you tolerate the non-omega off-topic) an Eterna Kontiki and an Hamilton Titan:

That KonTiki is an outstanding example of a rare dial style. On the Hamilton, please make sure that the crown seals properly. The early electric watches were extremely finicky and if any moisture gets inside, you could french fry the works.

I only know of one guy who can fix these properly and he takes on very limited work.

    Nice purchases,
