My wife is a small person, <120 lbs with thin wrists. She's not a watch person and I am a WIS...I'm hoping I can turn her on to the "hobby" with an omega. What do you guys think could win her over, new or vintage? Most of her jewelry is silver colored -- not a yellow gold fan -- and, like most women, she never saw a diamond she didn't like
Old school vintage Seamaster or Constellation on BoR bracelet, the bracelet looks great on girls and can be shortened to fit them, the size is about perfect.
I have a pie pan connie that I got from my grandfather... Do you have a specific model # or pic I should pursue, or should I just cruise ebay?
My wife adores the bricks bracelet. I don't think she cares much for the head/dial/hands.. I love the hands. But this is her watch now....
My wife has a 70s white gold ladies oyster president. It is pretty much indestructible (important feature), and goes with everything from baby Bjorn to slinky black dress.
+1. I gave my sister a 168.005 (Pie-pan w date cal. 564) on a BoR for her last birthday, and she likes it more than her Cartier tank.
Ok, I'll look into this one. All my pieces are large, the smallest is 42mm, so giving her one of mine isn't an option. I also think I might have to go quartz because I'm not sure she will wear it every day and winding/setting might be a bridge too far.
My wife likes bigger dialed watches Find out what she prefers If she likes small dials pm me, I have a new 30mm aqua Terra for a great price
I don't think they're available new anymore. I believe they came out around 2002. Here's a link to one on c24: http://www.chrono24.com/en/omega/de-ville-co-axial-gmt--id2283996.htm.. that should help with the specs and ref # Kind of a crappy pic, just snapped it quick, this is how it looks on her wrist. It's an auto, so goes on a winder when she's not wearing it..
Actually I just saw that's a GMT... I definitely don't want to get her a GMT. A quick set date is an absolute must. I guess putting it on a winder could work, as long as the winder was dead silent...she's a light sleeper and it would go on her dresser.
Have a look at this. Extremely sexy watch. I've read a few articles about the Coromandel and it's an amazing watch. One must appreciate the technic for making the dial. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/luxury/watches/64614/inside-metiers-dart.html It's not an Omega or Zenith so probably not interesting, I guess.
We have a 2 slot boxy winder. It's very quiet. I actually bought it for myself which I wear sometimes on leather, but she swipped it from me. Now I only get it if I beg.. The date isn't quickset, but it's not *that bad to set it.. but with the GMT, it just gets a bit tiresome, so hence the winder. It's ready to wear when she wants it.
Plus with a watch like that you get her interested but not too interested as to claim one of yours. As it seems to be frequently the case.
That is attractive but I don't think its her style. Also, I think I'm looking for something that I could sell easily in case it doesn't take.
My wife has a Ladymatic (hers in purple) and a Seamaster in black with, what else, diamond bezel. She also has some Mother of Pearl watch introduced at Basel. You might want think about the Ladymatic or the new one. Mother of Pearl seems the thing. My daughter has a Cartier which amazing. Both are relatively small on the wrist and I think well liked by the distaff side. Either way good luck, you'll need it.
