Subscription Manager Recommendations?

Like many of us in the new age, I have a number of subscriptions (ΩF, Netflix, Patreon etc) and I've been fairly slack with managing them and just let them roll.

Anyone use a subs manager that doesn't need to access your bank account and doesn't cost much?

Thanks all.

The way I track them is just via PayPal which tracks recurring expenses, and via Apple iCloud which does the same but neither are super convenient tbh

Yeah, it's a PITA nowadays, especially as you never own anything, you just "rent" it.
I pay subs through PayPal, my bank account and our joint account and credit card so one simple solution for multiple payment types would be good, but it seems to be a unicorn.

Funny thing happened to me, well not that funny....... I clicked into my netflix account one day whilst looking for a new series to watch with my wife, and noticed the amount I was being charged was higher than the $9.99 I signed up for, further delving into my account showed I had subscribed for another screen to be able to be watched at the same time $16.99 ( Wasnt me)
I dont know who in Kazakhstan was watching my account, (Au) but hope when I changed my password and resumed my settings to one screen, they where watching at a crucial final part of some series... when it stopped

I had been using my ex-wife’s Netflix after we split- it was still on the tv. That went on for about a year, I saw what she was watching and she saw what I was watching (even though we had our own profiles). Then her partner’s profile popped up. I had to get my own Netflix about a week later.

Funny thing, we were in a holiday cabin down the coast and the first night we turned the TV on and it was Netflix, we checked profiles and it wasn't any of us, so we were good people and logged out. I think we left a message but I'm not sure, a lot of single malt got involved later.

You’re not supposed to manage these things. How on earth do you expect these companies to make any money?

You’re not wrong, Amazon had a program to deliberately make their Prime service harder to cancel, it led to a 14% reduction in cancellations which made them an absolute killing just by using a deeply consumer hostile tactic. Article about it here:

That has the opposite effect on some people. I'm one of them. When a company makes it difficult for me to take a legitimate action on my account, it makes me all the more determined to do it and far less likely to ever do business with that company again.

I’m a bit that way too but we’re really the exception rather than the rule, most people are lazy and that’s how companies like that maximize their profits.

I once subscribed to an IT service on my iPad. They were NO help, whatsoever. It was costing me $60.00 a MONTH! The fee was being charged to my one Visa account. I tried repeatedly to cancel the subscription, buy the service made cancelling, impossible. So I paid off the Visa, and cancelled it! Fait accompli!

I expext my wife to be subscribed to OF long after I'm gone.

Not a bad thing since her new, (hopefully better looking and younger) partner will inherit my watches. Hope he reads OF and asks how much they're all worth.

We actually just took care of that for someone, a member had passed sadly and their partner's account was still charged but they let us know and we refunded it

Sorry to hear that. One of the more difficult parts of your work.

I worked in corporate retail during college- the whole idea behind an open return policy (lifetime warranty or bring it back anytime- no receipt, no hassles etc) is not the company standing behind their products- but knowing it will increase buyer confidence The customer will buy more product, even if they didn’t really need it just because they know they could return it. Most of the time people don’t bother returning because they’re either too lazy or too embarrassed to bring it back.

Some credit card companies will block charges from a company if you ask them.

I stayed in an AirBnB and the previous renter had logged into the TVs with their Netflix and Amazon accounts. The watch lists and recommended for you stuff really profiled the customer to a narrow demographic.

I had fun thinking of movies and TV shows that were as opposite as you could get, and made sure to let the binge watching begin on TV shows when I left each morning. I bet by the time they got home, their suggestions from the services were very warped.
