Submariner (new to me but not the world)

I also have to remind myself that, just as I once didn’t care for dive watches and now love the Submariner, so too with bracelets: I dislike them now but may be happy to have one later. Worth holding on to.

Congrats. It really is a nice watch. The 16610 is a nice model. It is a classic. The prices of this model is quite high for even a well beat on example.
I paid a slight bit over $3000 (including tax) for a brand new one in 1995. (hey remember when you could go into a Rolex store and actually buy a watch with no waiting list??)

I bought mine right after graduation from high school using my graduation money and making a few months of payments. Yes some folks say that if you have to make a few payments on a watch then you should not get it. I however don't regret doing it that way as I still have the watch. My one friend at the time used their money to make a down payment on new car. I used mine as a down payment on a Rolex Sub and drove a 1980's Chevette for several years. My friend got rid of that car a long time ago. I still have the Sub.

I would caution you not to sell the bracelet and keep it safe if you are not going to wear it. I however suggest that you try the watch on the bracelet, it is one of the most comfy bracelets around. You might just decide to keep it on the bracelet. I only have 2 watches that i wear with the bracelet. The Rolex Sub and that Rolex Oyster Perpetual Domino's watch, Both wear well

You are correct to leave the Lume alone. But for fun, I suspect if you are in a dark room with only the UV light on, you may still see the lume. It will fade quickly once the UV is tuned off.
