Nothing profound in this post just some fun shots of Italian industrialist and head of Fiat, the late Gianni Agnelli, sporting a Ploprof on Isoprene strap during casual moments in the 1970s with his trademark over-the-cuff style. I was at first surprised to see that such an elegant, fashionable gentleman as L'Avvocato would strap on a big ol' purpose built dive watch like the Ploprof. But if you look at his mixing of "high" and "low" styles throughout his life it actually makes sense. That seemingly effortless (it wasn't) approach to personal style is what makes Agnelli a touchstone for men's fashion today. Agnelli was also an avid yachtsman so the unmatched water resistance of the Ploprof at this time must also have appealed to him, as would the hefty avant-garde asymmetrical case design, I imagine. Anyway, a cool little footnote to Ploprof history. Goes to show you can rock just about any look if you believe in it and make it your own. Maybe just don't try that over-the-cuff trick. There's only one Gianni Agnelli, after all.
While we’re talking about Agnelli’s style, let’s also take a look at his special order Testarossa: the only existing spider version. https://petrolicious.com/articles/a-night-in-paris-with-the-only-real-ferrari-testarossa-spider
I tried wearing the 'plof over my sleeve once, but for some reason I just ended up looking like a douche.
Yes, definitely a "don't try IRL" move for most of us. When you're a billionaire nobody will point this out, however. Best, T.
Um, yeah...is this an example of super, high-brow pithy British humor that has flown over my head, or are you cryptically requesting pictures?
Well done, sir. A level of "pith" worthy of your countrymen, and quite at the level of "Fawlty Towers."
Have seen this before but missed/forgot the unique "across the ears" wearing of the sunglasses until I stumbled upon this 'homage' today on a Swedish site [old FS post for a Helson Sharkmaster 600]. Matey did miss the socks above the knee and over the trousers though, but easily done as Agnelli had such an impeccable eye for spot on colour matching And something else I probably already knew but re-learned today, care of deskdivers.com, and brought a smile to my face... "The Locking nut Patent (number CH503310) was filed on 23rd Oct 1968 but not published until 1974." The day after I was born
Never in a million years could I get away with that... Bone achingly cool for a mere mortal like me. Although when it comes to cool the Italians have an innate knack of it!!!!
