Not having had a watch with wind down crown to make it air tight, how tight should you close the crown to be sure it is water tight?

Because of this I won't subject the watch to water just in case.

A few taps with a ball-peen hammer should do the trick.

Seriously, just push it in. There's no way to push it tighter than against the case. It can't go any further.

It's one of them....you just know. Tight as you can go without being forceful.

If in doubt use the ball-peen hammer. ;)

Oh, and no need for needle nose pliers either if you're talking about a screw in crown.

Speedy '57 on the bottom of the pool. Didn't use a hammer or needle nose pliers....and it still works.
