·I have a 176.010 Omega Seamaster Yachting for sale. It has an Omega calibre 1040 inside and I serviced it about 18 months ago so, it doesn't need a service for some years. I've opened it now for photos plus checked the performance and it is still well lubricated and running correctly. The case is very sharp and it is a stunning watch overall.
These are terrific watches and with many complications. On the left sub dial, there is the continuous running seconds and a 24 hour indicator. On the right is the date. The chronograph has an hour recorder at the lower, a central seconds hand (orange) and a central minutes counter (orange aeroplane shape) which smooth sweeps. Additionally, it's an automatic. The crown has three positions: fully in to wind the watch by hand; one stop out to quick set the date clockwise and this also winds the watch with this calibre; fully out to set the time.
There are lots of photos below as I am not taking returns on this watch. If you need further photos, please ask. All following photos are unprocessed except to crop/reduce the size and if you want the original which is larger, just let me know. Front and back of the watch head:
Side views of the head:
I bought this from @cristos71 some years ago and it needed a service which took me many years to arrange owing to other commitments. I'm a watchmaker (soon to be retired!) and serviced it last year. I've just reviewed it and it doesn't need a service at the moment. It's clean, lubricated, running well and everything works correctly. I've shown some details below but can supply more if you ask. Opening the watch shows:
The movement is nicely coloured and clean.
A few photos under the microscope:
The upper Incabloc has a good quantity of oil as marked with the blue arrow (the bright ring):
Serial number and calibre
Some bracelet pictures - it's an 1162 with 172 end links. There is about 14 mm more extension in the clasp as the pin is half way along as well as two spare links. It's sized for me and my wrist is about 7.25 inches (185 mm). It will go slightly smaller using the clasp adjustment but, there is one link that is not removable on the left hand side close to the clasp so, it would need to work to resolve this small bracelet issue if you need to go under about 7 inches. I have not tried to do this as the bracelet is fine for me.
Quite a few parts were needed for the service including a complete barrel, mainspring, date ring, centre wheel and some other small wheels. Parts and packaging as below.
There are a lot of parts in these, spread over two containers - base movement parts:
Chronograph, date and auto system:
I have some build pictures as well showing the watch coming together and could put these in a report if they are of interest. Here's a snapshot of them all and the flow is down each column in turn.
Performance at 0H (30 minutes after full wind) shows good positional performance over six positions. Here is Dial up and you can see all the other rates are similar in the little boxes at the lower:
Performance at 24H (24 hours after resting) with the chronograph running (which is the worst condition) shows a minimum amplitude of 205 degrees and six position variation of 12.4 seconds. As I said, the movement does not need a service at the moment. Here is the last position being tested and you can see all the other rates are similar in the little boxes at the lower.
On my auto tester which is designed to simulate wear on the wrist, it is running +5 seconds/day and I'd expect it to run close to that in use, if worn every day. The power reserve was more than 44 hours which is fine.
I've not worn this much since I bought it as it took me years to find the time to service it so it wasn't worn. After the service it was worn a fair amount but has spent the last 9 months in the safe so, it's not worth me keeping it. I had another cal 1040 in for a service which reminded me that I should do something with this one.
I'm not taking returns on this watch as it will be expensive to send and insure. There are lots of photos and you're welcome to ask for more. Payment is by bank transfer to my UK bank account and the watch is in UK with me. I will declare the full value on the customs forms if sent abroad. I'm fairly well known on here and you can see references for me in the reviews section.
The price is reduced to £3700 (GBP) including insured postage/insurance.
If you are one of my watchmaking customers, let me know and I'll see what I can do to improve the deal.
Thanks for looking, and to the team at OF for this space.
Cheers, Chris
