Hard to do a group class photo and have the tropical dials show up.

I do have this dial in an 2998-2.
It's not a "close to perfect"145.022-69 dial but it might be worth a few bucks.:D

It's not close to perfect. It's very nice, it's also scratched. Also I don't know you well enough for you to quote me in a mocking way without me taking offense.

No intent to mock you. Quite the opposite. After all, immitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Does anyone know the story with the bracelet?

The date on the 1039 clasp seems plausible given the serial number.

But has anyone seen anything like the rest of it before? Does it look like a custom job?

I know this might be blasphemy in these parts, but I think it looks seriously cool.

After the link is dead and gone the final bid was US$11,635. Thought it might be worth mentioning as it isn't stated anywhere else.

The strange thing to me is that this serial number isn't in the
groups of normally attributed -69 browns. Those are all
29xxxxxx. Maybe the watch was from the equator and
    outside everyday. It's a one-off

    Ended at $935.

I bought one for my Ed White 8 months ago. Glad I did.

Hard pressed to think I can continue to add much more to my speedmaster collection.

Here is another that I bet goes for crazy money. Already $2850. Nice patina on dial and hands, I don't often see a 80/90s dial on a -71, and it looks so nice, too nice (hands re-lumed). In any case, I am really just venting about how crazy high these prices continue to go. I could go on, but probably just preaching to the choir.

As you say, it's been relumed - and polished, too. But at least it's been nicely done and the polish is at least disclosed in the listing. Still, I hope whoever's bidding it up knows their dials...

I am not sure if this one has stepped dial.
