I picked up this Citizen Alarm Date earlier this month. After a service and crystal replacement I'm ready to wear it but I have no strap. The lugs are 18mm so there shouldn't be any issues finding a strap but I'm really having a hard time deciding what to put it on. I know I don't want a nato or perlon and, certainly nothing dressy. Any suggestions are welcome .
Bas and Lokes has some killer straps... Holland would be nice. http://www.basandlokes.com/holland-grey-brown-handmade-suede-watch-strap/
I would probably try / put on a black, customized, handmade alligator leather strap. Similar to this one, even though it's dark brown:
+1. Black gator strap, with light grey stitching, would look good. If the Citizen is on the thicker side, a thicker padded strap (4 - 4.5mm), together with the light grey contrast stitching, would look sportier. I've had good experiences with this chap who does decent custom work for a very reasonable price. I've attached a picture of my Breitling with a custom short 21mm black gator strap, done with white stitching, for $35. He's doing another 21mm strap right now for my new GP. His average waiting time is about 3-4 weeks. edit: oops sorry, it's croc, not gator
I'd think a Heuerville strap with no holes would work nicely on that - here's one on my Railmaster: The leather is somewhat untreated so it shows a few marks once you start wearing it, it's really cool. If it were my watch, I'd go for a dark grey color like oddboy suggested, or a flat black.
A nice, tan leather strap like those made by Hirsch would probably dress that watch up nice. Something along these lines maybe: http://www.hirschstraps.com/collect...calf-deployment-curved-watch-strap-gold-brown
Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm not necessarily finished looking because either of these straps fit most of my Seamasters. I'm leaning toward the tan caiman for my everyday but I like the black alligator, too.
