In the catalogs, the 57 models are always on bracelets.

Anyone know if they were ever sold on straps?

I ordered a "proper" G10/NATO for mine since the one from Omega has so much fail, but should I bother getting a leather strap or just keep it on the bracelet, usually?

Yes, I know I can do what I want but I would like to be at least in the neighborhood of historical accuracy.

Each of the Trilogy models came on a bracelet with 1 extra leather strap, and 1 extra nylon NATO.

If you like the bracelet, keep it on. I found that for my Seamaster 300, I liked the bracelet so much that I stopped trying to find a strap for it. I never tried on the ones included in the box, though.

... or do you mean the original 2914? In that case, I dunno really. I think the Seamaster 300 2913 was available with a sharkskin strap, but I dunno about the 2915 or 2914.

Yes, sorry if that wasn't clear.

I dislike the straps Omega included but they were nice enough to include nice buckles. Also to clarify I have the 57 60th LE.

I have the Seamaster 300 60th LE and was also not a fan of the included straps. However I purchased a separate Omega NATO (Novonapa Leather) that I am very happy with. It feels great and is aging nicely.

Here is how Omega site shows it would look on a Railmaster.
