Howdy, folks. I have a Longines Hour Angle chronograph (aka Mister Long Jeans) that has a 21mm lug width. I am looking to purchase an inexpensive brown leather NATO for it but have not been able to locate a 21mm...just 20mm and 22mm. My question is should I go 20mm or 22mm?

Thanks in advance for your input.

I'd love to go 21mm but I can't locate a vendor that has 21mm...they all appear to have 20mm and 22mm (as well as other sizes)...but no 21mm for leather NATO.

I know crown and buckle have 21mm nato straps but no leather, you could give them a call and see if they would make you a leather one (they do some "manufacturing in-house"), but I doubt that would be considered "inexpensive"

Bulang also no 21mm mmmm. I suppose if you get a normal Nato you could ask someone to costumer make it for you. There's a shop here in NYC close to.my house that does costum leather work ( sandals belts etc. I can ask If they can make it. They're good.

21mm are like the 19mm straps there out there you just have to look harder for them. I have several 19mm watches and it can be a pain in the arse to find a nice one at a reasonable price!

19mm is the common 3/4" size. Search for 3/4".

I'd put a 22 on it - you will find it will fit anyway and look better than one that is too small - that gappy look on a NATO is awful - even Connery looked like a knob with it.

Send me a picture of exactly what you want in terms of leather tone etc. I stopped by today but didn't want to just ask too broadly. They also do all sorts of other stuff so they should be able to. I wonder though wether that have the buckles.

Anyway send me a pic and I'll bring in one of my leather Natos as an example just in case. They will be closed until after labor day though

These are all 21mm, less than $50 bucks, more colors available... plenty of these on ebay.

Are they not the particular hue of brown needed to match your Dunkin'?

@Traveler...good call...I tried a nylon 22mm NATO on my 21mm Longines and it looked OK. I have read that leather can be somewhat manipulated (stretched) to fit in this situation.

I like a snug fit, some of my leather straps are hand made by a terrific guy in Northern California. The other benefit of custom is you can have a single hole for the tang and have the keeper riveted into the "perfect" spot.

If I do buy a leather strap "off the rack", I'll sometimes go +1mm and "shave" the inside lug side of the leather. I don't know why i get involved in such buffoonery but I guess it makes me happy?

If I had the loot, I'd go out and buy one of Byrons's Horween straps for each watch I have.
THE only watch straps which get better looking each time you wear 'em- that's crazy!!! Lol

This V V V V is an 18.5mm strap jammed into 18mm lug width opening...

    Copy all, Rich.

In particular, what is your method regarding the "shave" of the inside lug side of the leather?
